Aquarium Positions
Guest Services Associate
Guest Services Associates are essential members of the VIA Aquarium team, serving as the face of the aquarium and ensuring a warm, welcoming experience for visitors. Responsibilities include assisting guests with ticketing, memberships, and general inquiries; providing information about exhibits and attractions; supporting sales and service in the gift shop; and helping to create a positive and memorable visit for every guest.
Candidates should demonstrate a passion for wildlife, strong communication skills, and a commitment to exceptional customer service. This position reports directly to the Guest Services Supervisors and Guest Services Manager. It is a part-time, non-exempt role requiring weekend availability, with shifts starting between 9:00–10:30am and ending between 5:00–6:00pm.
Touch Tank Attendant
Touch Tank Attendants play a vital role in shaping our guests’ experiences by engaging guests in hands-on interactions with marine life. Key responsibilities include educating visitors about the species in the touch tanks, ensuring the welfare of the animals, and maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment. Touch Tank Attendants help foster a dynamic and educational atmosphere where curiosity meets conservation.
This is a part-time, non-exempt position requiring weekend availability. This position reports directly to the Education Manager.
Birthday Party Host
Birthday Party Hosts are enthusiastic, dynamic team members who help create unforgettable celebrations for our guests. In this role, you’ll decorate, prepare, and clean the party room, lead activities, engage with guests of all ages, and ensure every celebration is fun and memorable.
Customer service and experience working with children are preferred but not required—we’re looking for team members with a positive attitude and a passion for creating joyful experiences.
This is a part-time, non-exempt position requiring weekend availability. Shifts may vary depending on bookings and can be scheduled for either a half day or a full day, starting as early as 10:00am and ending as late as 6:00pm. This position reports to the Events Coordinator and Events Manager.
Aquarist
Aquarists are responsible for the daily care and well-being of our aquatic animals, ensuring their health through proper husbandry and the maintenance of exhibits, life support systems, and other support areas such as the laboratory. They maintain detailed records, including inventory, exhibit populations, animal health, and water quality reports.
In addition to animal care, Aquarists may lead internship programs and our Aquarist for the Day experience, sharing their knowledge of aquarium operations and fish biology with students and guests.
This position reports directly to the Biology Manager.
